Colorectal Cancer Screening Community Outreach Program
Offering Colonoscopy at no charge for uninsured patients who do not have the ability to pay.
The physicians of Advanced Surgery Center of Long Island/ Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants have joined together to reach out to the entire Suffolk County community in an effort to educate residents on the need for colorectal cancer screening. The goal of our educational campaign is to reduce the number of deaths from colorectal cancer by making colonoscopy cancer screening as widely available as possible.
We will accept patients for colorectal cancer screening who have private health insurance, Affordable Care Act Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or no insurance.
Those who are uninsured and do not have the ability to pay will be screened with a colonoscopy free of charge. We will accept charity cases (prescreened financially, if possible) for this outreach program.
Our Community Outreach Program includes the distribution of new brochures, flyers, and posters; reaching out to medical professionals; and contacting and attending meetings of community groups and organizations to carry the message that we want to save lives!
Brochures and posters in English and Spanish on colorectal cancer and this Community Outreach Program can be obtained by contacting [email protected]. Single copies can also be downloaded directly from our Web sites: www.lidigestive.com and www.advancedasc.com.
The National Institutes of Health indicate that the death rate from colorectal cancer could be reduced by more than 80% if people over 50 or with a family history of colon cancer were screened.
